William Butler Yeats (13 June 1865 – 28 January 1939) was an Irish poet and playwright, and one of the foremost figures of 20th century literature. A pillar of both the Irish and British literary establishments, in his later years he served as an IrishSenator for two terms. Yeats was a driving force behind the Irish Literary Revival and, along with Lady Gregory, Edward Martyn, and others, founded the Abbey Theatre, where he served as its chief during its early years. In 1923 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature as the first Irishman so honoured  for what the Nobel Committee described as “inspired poetry, which in a highly artistic form gives expression to the spirit of a whole nation.” Yeats is generally considered one of the few writers who completed their greatest works after being awarded the Nobel Prize; such works include The Tower (1928) and The Winding Stair and Other Poems (1929).

I am a 21 year-old student from Finland.

It makes me sad to hear how Americans are suffering.

Here, our taxes are high but we all benefit from them.

I grew up in the countryside and always had access to the same services that people in the city did.

My university is known around the world in my field and my education is not only free, but my government pays ME to go to university. Everyone has a right to this.

Everyone has a right to the best healthcare, there is no such thing as health insurance.

I am young now and able to take risks and pursue my passion because I will never have to worry about starving if I loose my job or my business fails.

I know that when I am old my state pension will be there for me so that I can enjoy my retirement.

We call this the Nordic Model, and under it we live well and our businesses are among the most competitive in the world. I am grateful to have been born a citizen of a country that cares for its people, and I hope that one day the USA will take example from us.

This dapper gentleman was born in 1533 in Dillenburg (Hessen, Germany) as Count Wilhelm von Nassau-Dillenburg. He was the main leader of the Dutch revolt against the Spanish that set off the Eighty Year’s War and resulted in the formal independence of the Republic of the United Netherlands in 1648. As the most influential and politically capable of the rebels he led the Dutch to several successes in the fight against the Spanish. Declared an outlaw by the Spanish king in 1580, he was assassinated in Delft (Netherlands) four years later.

In the Netherlands he is known as the father of the fatherland, they even wrote him a song which was calld Het Wilhelmus and declared the Dutch national anthem in 1932. Also, he was one hell of a good looking man. No wonder Dutch people practically worship him!

Wouldn’t this world be so dull if we all believed in the same morals, religions, and politics? Diversity is what makes Earth so beautiful and everyone should be respected no matter what.. <3

Religions aren’t facts so don’t tell people that yours is better b/c an opinion is no better than anyone elses!

I’m only blacking out the person who shared the picture, but not the asshole who originally posted this disgusting picture. The comment is me. I can’t believe someone liked or even shared that picture. 

Yeah, because demanding immigrants learn english is RACIST! But demanding americans learn spanish, isn’t?

I’d like to have one of these. I wouldn’t wear it because I’d stab the first person to call me racist for it, but it would be cool to have. That’s why I refused to take Spanish in High School. I took German (4 years in HS and through the 200 level in college) because that’s the country I’d like to visit the most.

No one has ever demanded that anyone here learn spanish. But if they did they would only be demanding that we learn another non native language… like english. 
english and spanish are both non native languages.

There is no official language in america. That’s the beautiful thing about america - we don’t need to all speak the same language.

She went by the stage name of Asmahan.  She was a really popular singer/actress in Egypt and is thought to have been a spy during world war two.  Mostly badass.  Totally stunning.
